I am going to try to supply the
most content to describe all these fabulous photos as best I can. There is so
much to tell I haven't the slightest clue where to beginning this feature.
Alright viewers, well I hope I haven't left you in this anticipated disposition
to where you question my will to keep PNP updated with features. Busy, busy, bee
I tell ya! I had said in January’s post that I was going to talk about my first
two weeks living in San Francisco, well I lied. I am going to tell you about
what has happened over the past month and a half.
As I sit here waiting for my mud mask to set
and the nail polish on my toesies to dry, I wonder and reflect on how pleasant
my day was today. I always look forward to school days, more so because I love
the classes I am taking and an addition to that I get a day off from work!
What I love the most so far about living
in this city is I have yet to experience a dull moment. And as for sleep?
Forget about it, I don’t even know what the word means anymore. Although on my
days off when I am occupied with homework, I plan an afternoon to myself or an
evening out with a friend. This place has so much to offer that it is
impossible to stay home and linger. About the third week in, my friend and I
went to go check out an opening promotional show for a local clothing brand
called Faze Apparel located on Valencia St. It was awesome because the turn out
for the business was great; people were vibing, socializing and having a good
time. I was able to take pictures of the event, along with meet and greet with
people who lived in the area. I got some pretty good photos of the live art and
a decent picture of the crowd, mind you I am not the tallest tree in the woods.
I have been spending most of my
time in the Mission District and on Valencia St. or at Dolores Park. I live in
the Outer Mission District which is considered the outskirts of San Francisco.
Going downtown is about a 10 minute drive on the freeway. Not too shabby, I
know, but when I go out I try to stay in close proximity to my house. Lately I
have been finding the spots I go to online on SF based blogs I follow. I figure
I see what is recommended first, then try and find new places on my own later. There
are so many fascinating thrift shops, small boutique stores and plenty of multi-culture
restaurants to visit! My favorite place to go to thus far has been Gypsy
Honeymoon, a store of precious nostalgic treasures or items that go as far back
as the 18th century! The best way I can describe it is it makes me
feel like I am an in little parisian girls dollhouse. Filled with the scent of
lavender, scattered love letters, beautiful jewels and china set tea cups! It is just
marvelous and there is nothing like experiencing it for yourself. Check out the
website (gypsy-honeymoon.com) to get more of a glimpse of this fantasy
dollhouse I love.
I like to both experience these
places on my own and share them with other people. When my cousin Ellie of
(brokecitystyle.com) comes to visit we partake in the most splendid adventures! I
love this girl, she is always up and willing to try anything. Even if it is a
date mixed with a juxtapose of sliced pizza from Pauline’s Pizza and a cappuccino
from Four Barrel Coffee. She by the way she has started her newly established blog
(brokecitystyle.com) which features pictures and bios of people’s lifestyle she
has a fascination over. Along with captured insight on how to keep a budgeted wardrobe
and still look and feel fabulous. I admire her writing style and creative thought
process so much, that I aspire to one day find who I am as a writer with poise, just as she has. With two books in progression, this woman is truly talented
and needs to be recognized for her passion in fashion and writing abilities.
At the end of the day I like to
plop myself on my bed read a book, watch a movie or treat myself to a baking
session! If there is one thing I have learned about being on my own, is that it
is essential to relax and catch your breathe. Take some time for yourself readers; find something
that keeps your mind sane. Girls and or boys like us- who live in big busy cities-
sometimes forget to meditate and regroup on things that actually require no physical
abuse to the body. Me time is special, and having
the time to write and share my experiences with you puts me in a state where I neither
need to think or worry. I just write, because that’s what keeps sane. I would
love for you to find a place and time in your busy schedule aside from work,
school and friends to connect with you and only you.
With that said viewers, I hope you
enjoyed my February feature and will continue to read about my adventures in San
Francisco. Stay updated because next feature I am taking you to a local art
gallery exhibiting a local San Francisco artist by the name of Charmaine
Olivia, check out her website at (charmaineolivia.com). I will let you in on a
little secret (whisper voice) Lady Gaga is a respected client of hers!
Ciao!
