I have had this atrocious writers block these past couple of days, but I am back and ready to tell you all about my holidays. Let me start off by saying Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I hope everyone’s holiday festivities were marvelous and grand! Welcome 2013, as cliché as this may sound, phew 2012 was grand, but now I am onto new and prosperous obstacles this New Year has to offer. This Christmas celebration was more of a sentimental affair to me. I was so delighted to be reunited with my family and close cousins. It was nice to feel at home in the kitchen with my grandma and aunts helping prepare, or should I say waiting to delight into a tasty dish of Mexican pupusas and tamales! Both Christmas and New Year’s, were celebrated in a subtle nonchalant manner. Conveniently during the same time I was in the process of moving, so it was challenging for me to really do anything with all the commuting back and forth. With that said, my New Year’s was spent with my best friend, some yummy homemade pizza and the live NYE Times Square extravaganza! Sweet and simple! I was also thinking for the New Year, I would try a new look. I have been wanting full bangs and a change in hair color for some time now. The ombre was more of a summer phase that dragged on due to lack of maintenance. So I said HEY, let’s do something different and make is dramatic! I had a lot of fun shooting this blog feature because I had my family member Jonae help me out. It always delights me when I can share my blog experience with other people. As you can see, I took these pictures in a garage; I have always wanted to take pictures with a washer machine and in my grandpa’s storage “lair”. Plus the white background works very well in contrast with my black, lace, and sheer frock. Excuse the excess amount of random objects around me. I like to prepare my composed shots most of the time, but I also like it to be sporadic and miscellaneous. Meaning, don’t let the protruding mess in the background distract you. Without deviating from the subject, I was snooping around my grandfather’s rubbish; and came across his old record player. I took it upon myself to lurk around his collection of abandoned vinyls; I figured I could put one to good use. No surprise that the first one I chose from the dusty pile was a Vicente Hernandez record. I come from a background of Mexican genealogy, which is a culture I gladly acknowledge and take pride in. Not necessarily my choice in genre, but I can enjoy the music with my grandparents because it brings me back to the nostalgic times of my childhood. I would also ask that you please accept my apologies on not keeping my word and failing to post pictures on the night life in Union Square in San Francisco during the holidays. Since I wasn’t living in the city yet, my holiday work schedule was overwhelming and hectic. Which unfortunately didn’t allow me to take an extra trip to come shoot an additional feature? Now that I have finally arrived to the place where I want to start my life I will proudly document my discoveries, journeys and paths I face while living in my new home. I didn’t commit to a New Year’s resolution this year, because I already feel like I have to face so many challenges in this big city, it is will be impossible to focus on just one. Two things I will say going into this New Year, Be DARING and live life like a CHARACTER! Take these two statements and run with them viewers! Make this year another great one or if not even better than the last! Make sure to stay posted for my next blog feature. I will talk about the first two weeks living in this Golden City we Californian’s call San Francisco.
Ciao xoxo
