Dear Viewers,
November has finally arrived and has brought along its drastic change in weather! Oh yes, time to whip out the outerwear, layers and knit accessories! Fall is such a whimsical season, filled with holiday spirit, fall activities, seasonal beverages, and family gatherings. The New Year is vastly approaching, and there is such little time to prepare. Shucks! We haven’t even gotten through Thanksgiving yet, and don’t even start thinking about Christmas! I absolutely love the holidays so much that I don’t dare abuse any second of it. There is just something about it; it has this charm on me that I can’t resist! Another delightful aspect of the holidays is that we get time off of school. Now I am quite sure all of us students agree with an amen, that we can all use a break! Fall semester students are reaching finals and working hard to move on to second semester. Boy am I excited for the upcoming courses that I will be taking for my major, along with the beginning classes for my minor degree. Which of course reminds me, while we are on the subject matter of education; I would like to take a moment to congratulate our reelected US President Barack Obama and also thank you America for choosing the right participant to run our country!  Now I hope all of you voted this year! Voting in my first presidential election was pretty rad! If you didn’t get a chance to vote, here is my suggestion to you. Observe, be aware and try to understand what Obama is going to do for this country in the next 4 years to come.  Plus when you are 18 and are allowed to vote, you get an awesome sticker that says I voted.  It is a little incentive to congratulate you on your power to be an American voter.  Enough of this talk of politics, I want to move on and tell you guys what I have been learning in my editing and storytelling classes. I have a daily routine when coming to school... usually. My mornings consist of a 45 minute train ride to San Francisco, followed by a 5 minute walk to a muni station. The train ride isn’t too bad at all, all I do is listen to my music and sometimes read. If I am not doing either of those things I just relax and gather my thoughts for the day ahead of me. I have such a busy schedule throughout the week so there is always something to think about.  It is always fun to me, each and every time I wake up and get ready for school. I enjoy the hustle and bustle lifestyle. I feel like it keeps me motivated to get things done and push for more. When I get to class I am ready to learn and anxious to find out what the next challenging homework assignment is. Now I deal with computers and video editing for my take home assignments. I use paper and pen when I need to plot my story for my storytelling class, but mostly I am using my creative output and my editing skills. The skills I learn in my editing for Multimedia Storytelling class I utilize to help me in my You Media Short Form class.  So my first class is the technology behind the camera and my second class is more so focused on the story and on camera video. I enjoy the You Media course, more than the editing course just because I like being the writer to my own stories. Writing about it and then seeing it executed on screen is remarkable to me. Every time I write a story line for a video, I vividly envision it my head prior to editing. There is a lot to learn in Final Cut Pro X, but it is a great program to use when editing video. The tough part is just remembering all the shortcuts and tricks that take time to get used too. Now that the first semester is closely coming to its end I have realized that I love my school and I am happy to be around artistic and innovative people and professionals.  I am very much looking forward to my upcoming spring semester classes, which will be Broadcast Communications, Intro to Fashion Journalism, and Composition for the Artist. So I definitely have something to look forward to as well as prepare for.  I hope all of you students feel the same way in your upcoming courses as well. With that said here are some quick words of wisdom.  Education is important to most people, and if you are one of those people great for you! Keep you motivational flow and don’t let any obstacle ruin your path. This is your journey, you are on your way to establishing your purpose or place on this earth.  It would be a shame to spoil it and not take your priorities seriously. Be grateful that you are mentally and physically able to attend school or a higher level of education. We only get one shot while we are young,  for the great Woody Allen himself once said, “If you are not failing every now and again, it’s a sign you’re not doing anything very innovative.” Until next time, stay posted <3
